LAB M046: MongoDB Drivers (Application Delivery)

MongoDB provides drivers for all the major programming languages. To succeed as a developer, knowing how to install, connect, and use the driver for a relevant language is crucial. In this course, you will understand some of the most common language drivers used by MongoDB.

MongoDB provides drivers for all the major programming languages. To succeed as a consultant or developer, knowing how to install, connect, and use the driver for a relevant language is crucial.

In this lab, you will primarily learn how to install, configure, and use MongoDB in Java. There will also be an exercise for implementation in Python. These languages have been chosen because they are some of the most commonly used. Furthermore, we aim to provide a contrast between Python, which represents a dynamically typed language, and Java, which is a statically typed language. This causes some differences in the implementation of the drivers, which is good to know.

By the end of this lab, you will have learnt to:

  • install, and configure a driver
  • do CRUD operations through drivers
  • handle transactions
  • identify some common patterns/anti-patterns when developing
